Tips

Copy & Paste

Why enter in duplicate data when putting more than one scheduled item for the same case in the Depo field? Right-click and Copy; then just change the few items that you need to change.

You can also use this feature to build more than one invoice for a billed item; or to add an attorney to an already-existing firm.

Deposits

The Deposits tab has a lot of functionality for you.

First, of course, you should be recording payments to your invoices there. You should NOT check the Pd box UNLESS the item is paid in full. If you accept a partial payment as payment in full, still click the Pd box.

If you look at the bottom of the Deposits grid, you can see a snapshot of your total receivables.

If you would like to quickly check to see how much one particular client owes you, click the Attorney box.

The fill-in box is for your preference. Some of our users enter the check number in this box, to be viewed in the Register. If you leave this box blank, the default entry in Register will be the invoice number.

Writing Letters

For some users, the Text Editor has become a very handy letter-writing kit. (You did know we have a Text Editor, right?)

Click Tools, Text Editor. There are some sample transmittal letters there for your convenience. You can choose one, change it to your liking, and click Save; or you can click Save As, and give it a name more intuitive to you.

When you are ready to send a letter, say for transmittal or marketing, you can then click Mail Merge, choose the person or group that you wish to send the letter to, and then choose the letter. The addressees will be filled in automatically.

You can then click on Envelopes and have your envelopes printed. ReporterWorks can put your return address on for you in a nice Arial font, or you can use your own envelopes. (Our office has saved a lot of money by using plain white envelopes for rebillings and letting RW do the rest.)

Verify Deposit Slips:

Click Billing, Register; select Deposits; and click the Print button to give you a printout of your recorded deposits for the day to verify your deposit slip.

Back up!!

You can back up RW2002 easily to diskettes and/or removable media (CD-R writers, ZIP drive, etc.) You can choose to back up to zipped files. RW2002 will also prompt you to automatically back up every time you leave the program.

Please keep backups!
