FAQsQ Will ReporterWorks operate if I upgrade my operating system from Windows 95 or 98 to something more current?
A Yes. ReporterWorks is designed for Win95, Win98, Win98SE, WinNT, Win2000, WinMe, and WinXP platforms.
Q Can I use this in a DOS or Windows 3.1 platform?
A No. You need to upgrade to Windows 95 or higher platform. To take advantage of all of the features of modern Windows operating systems, ReporterWorks was designed from the very beginning with Windows 95 and higher platforms in mind.
Q Will I have to buy a new program in order to upgrade ReporterWorks?
A No. Improvements are regularly added for free download from our Web site. We also offer yearly, affordable upgrades. The upgrades are optional; however, they do extend technical support another year. You can always become current by purchasing the latest upgrade.
Q What if I need to upgrade from ReporterWorks to ReporterWorks Pro? Must I buy a new program?
A No, just pay the difference in cost.
Q Will ReporterWorks handle all my accounting functions?
A We provide a number of tracking features, including commissions, deposits, billings, and the like. The Custom Reports of ReporterWorks Pro are very flexible. However, we have taken care not to duplicate accounting-type functions that are readily available on other programs. We could offer a program that does all this for $2,000. It is far more cost-effective for you, the user, to buy QuickBooks for its retail price and use the import/export function of our program to coordinate with the features that QuickBooks offers.
Q Then why shouldn't I just buy QuickBooks?
A Our users who have QuickBooks appreciate ReporterWorks for our communication and functions that are tailored to court reporters. We appreciate the features of QuickBooks; that's why we import and export with it. If you want a generic accounting program that you can probably manipulate to your general needs, get QuickBooks. If you want a program specifically tailored to court reporters, buy ReporterWorks.
Q Is there anything ReporterWorks doesn't do that I should know about? A We didn’t used to have flat-rate commissions and sales tax applicability. Now we do.
Some firms want a fixed percentage on a baseline price. In other words, if a reporter is paid 50% on an O+1 at $3.50/page, the reporter would still get 50% of $3.50 if the firm hikes the price to $3.70/page. We don't offer that specifically, although the percentages can be modified to achieve that on an invoice-line basis.
Q Is training included? A Reporters have been shielded from the world of retail software for too long.
That having been said, we will train on-site for the price of air fare and any overnight stay that is necessitated. You can buy ReporterWorks, have on-site training, and still spend less money than you would to take a competing system out of the box. We encourage, and it has happened, that colleagues in the same city have split the cost to bring us in for training. Call or e-mail us for more details.
Q I can't believe ReporterWorks offers this much at this low price. What's the catch? A There is no catch. This is the type of software that court reporters should be offered more often. Buy ReporterWorks at the basic price; enjoy Windows technology and unlimited growth of the program. If you want to upgrade to the Pro, just pay the difference in cost. If you want to buy yearly updates and yearly extensions for support, do so; if not, don't, and just keep using the program. |
